History

The Reliance Gold Property (100% owned and operated by Menika Mining Ltd.) is within the Bridge River gold camp. This area produced more gold than any other camp in British Columbia over its 70 years of operation (130 tonnes or 4 million ounces of gold), mainly from the Bralorne and Pioneer deposits, situated 11 km. south of the Reliance property

The Reliance property consists of 19 reverted crown grants, covering a total area of 250.77 hectares, it is also one of the oldest properties in the Bridge River gold camp. The original staking is dated in 1910, by September of 1915 it is reported that four tons of ore had been bagged for shipment and the richest samples assayed up to ½ ounce in a ton (17 g/t Au.

In 1917 there was a shipment of hand-cobbed gold bearing stibnite; no further records are available for this period.

Menika Mining acquired the property in 1984. The Company built an access road on the property, which led to the discovery of the Royal Zone, the Treasure Zone and many other showings.

The following table is taken from a Technical Report by Peter Christopher, PhD, PEng. (Nov. 2002)

Significant Gold Values Encountered in Discovery Hole DDH86-1

FROM (m) TO (m) INTERVAL Au GRADE (g/t)
64.66 66.14 1.48 4.12
73.76 84.42 10.66 9.93
85.95 87.48 1.53 3.5
96.77 98.60 1.83 5.91
106.98 107.59 0.61 3.93

In 1987, 53 diamond drill holes were carried out, totaling 8,476 m. The 1988, exploration program consisted of 23 diamond drill holes for a total of 3,294 m. Due to the low price of gold, there was a lapse in exploration. In 1996, 13 diamond drill holes were carried out on the property. DDH 96-11 and DDH 96-12 drilled at 90º southwest of the Imperial zone on the Mint zone, intercepted a significant gold mineralization zone. To date, this zone is open in all directions. No further drilling has been carried out since 1996.

During the road maintenance in October 2003, a new zone (Eagle South Zone) of rusty gossanous rock was discovered at approximately 100 meters south of the Eagle zone. The following report is taken from a Summary Report by Robin Whiteaker, BSc, geologist.

“The best gold values are from 5 rock samples collected across an approximately 45 metre ‘main zone’ of trenched road cut. Selected chip samples returned gold grades of 8.46 g/t over 4 metres, 2.20 g/t over 4 metres, 6.03 g/t over 4 metres and 3.8 g/t over 8 metres. In addition, two chip samples collected in a road cut approximately 100 metres northeast of the ‘main zone’ returned gold values of 4.50 g/t over 1 metre, and 4.29 g/t over 1 metre. One float collected in the same area returned gold values of 10.10 g/t”.
